Role:
Visual Designer
Project Overview:
The Data Exchange Framework (DxF) is a statewide initiative in California that sets common rules and standards for securely sharing health and social services information. Its purpose is to make data exchange simpler and more consistent so providers can deliver better, more connected care.
I was tasked with designing the DxF Toolkit, a resource that translates this complex initiative into something providers can easily understand and use. My role was to adapt the new branding into a functional format that worked digitally and in print, while also creating diagrams and visual assets to simplify technical processes. Since the toolkit also served as a workbook, I designed layouts that left space for notes and active engagement.
The result was a clear, approachable resource that helped providers navigate compliance and gave them confidence in implementing the framework. By combining thoughtful design with a consistent visual identity, the toolkit supported the state’s larger mission of creating a connected and modern health data system.
